According to the president of the Council of the European Union, "it takes time to convince public opinion" of the need for economic reforms - For "the weaker economies", it is therefore a question of "accepting austerity measures", while for " some of the strongest economies”, it is about agreeing to “help the others”.

Van Rompuy: reforms in Italy, not elections

Italy "needs reforms, not elections". This is the opinion of Herman Van Rompuy, president of the Council of the European Union, who spoke today during the inauguration of the academic year at the European University Institute.

Van Rompuy also specified that "convincing public opinion" of the need for economic reforms "takes time". For "the weaker economies", it is therefore a question of "accepting austerity measures", while for "some of the stronger economies", it is a question of accepting to "help the others".
