Waltz of the bombers, the Destro-Gomez exchange animates the January transfer market

The whirlwind of strikers dominates the January market – At the center of everything is the sensational negotiation between Roma and Fiorentina to exchange Destro, who wants to leave Garcia, and Gomez, unloaded by Montella – Pazzini instead remains at Milan – La Sampdoria he's giving up on Muriel and betting on Eto'o – Borriello returns to Genoa – Sparks for Pogba, Strootman and Pjanic.

Waltz of the bombers, the Destro-Gomez exchange animates the January transfer market

Nothing to do for Mattia Destro at Milan. Through the Milan Channel, the Rossoneri made it known that there is no margin for a transfer of Pazzini, a necessary condition for proceeding with the deal: "Pazzini remains at Milan" was the phrase that stood out on the Milan thematic channel, a closure that is probably definitive also in light of the excellent performance of the center forward (complete with goals) against Sassuolo in the Italian Cup. In the morning, however, Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini had begun talks with Mattia Destro's agent, Claudio Vigorelli. Around midday, the attacker's representative arrived at the Visconti hotel (Rome's Milan transfer market headquarters) awaited by the Giallorossi sporting director, all before AC Milan stopped.

Destro, however, seems equally destined to leave Rome with a new destination: Florence. In the last few hours, in fact, the hypothesis of a sensational exchange between Destro and Gomez is taking shape, both looking for redemption, especially after the break between the German and Fiorentina. Montella of the centre-forward said “I expect more from Gomez. The time has come to sum up and I demand more from him”, and the prosecutor replied: “These statements are absolutely not justifiable and in such a delicate situation they are counterproductive for everyone”. Montella and Garcia have approved the operation.

James Pallotta makes Roma fans shiver by hypothesizing sensational transfers. Interviewed by the American site Bleacherreport.com, he said: “The newspapers have finally stopped bothering us about Strootman, also because Strootman himself recently said that he likes Italy and that he has a 5-year contract. And I had no intention of selling it anyway. It's the same with Pjanic and Liverpool: we have a 4-year contract with Miralem and we love him. We want to have the best team possible, and that's the most important thing. We are business people though, and if someone comes with a very high offer for a player, you have to listen to them. You can't just say no. My take on Strootman, for example, is don't sell it, but if someone comes along and offers a huge amount of money, listen to them." It's hard to think that the maxi offer you're talking about will arrive in January, but anything can happen from June onwards.

At Juve, we are already thinking about the summer transfer market, and Allegri's words about Pogba on the eve of the Coppa Italia match against Verona do not bode well: "Pogba is young, strong and can do more than he has shown . In June we don't know what can happen. It's normal that everyone wants it, we try to live only in the present”. With what he's doing again this season, his valuation has risen further, and the minimum price is around 60 million, a figure destined to rise if the auction for the Frenchman opens. Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid are already testing the waters with Mino Raiola, the player's agent.

Clamorous slowdown in the negotiations for Muriel's passage from Udinese to Sampdoria: the medical examinations revealed that the right flexor strain is more serious than expected and will force the attacker to stay out all of January. Samp are asking for a discount from the Friulians on the 12 million initially agreed or nothing will be done. Meanwhile, Samp continues to work on the Eto'o track, excluded from the squad for the FA Cup match between Everton and West Ham. Yesterday the rumor had spread that Eto'o was already in Milan (where he has a house in the center and where his family still lives), a fact that was later denied. Ferrero is working on his salary, trying to convince the player to accept an 18-month contract for 3 million.

Genoa has practically completed the operation to bring Marco Borriello back to the Rossoblu. The striker, whose contract with Roma will expire in June, has already played for Genoa in the 2007-08 seasons (19 goals in 35 appearances) and in 2012-13 (12 goals in 28 appearances), and will replace injured Matri, out for 45 days. Genoa will offer an extension until 2016, spreading the current salary of 4 million a year over a year and a half. The last issue to be resolved is that relating to the severance pay from Rome, which will be around one million euros.

Maurizio Zamparini has set the price for Dybala, the 21-year-old Argentine center forward who has already scored 9 goals this year: “How much is Dybala worth? Let's say more than 40 million – said the president of Palermo -, many teams have sought him but only from abroad, including Manchester United. I told the English that he is not for sale now but that we will talk about him again in six months, for me he is the best European striker at the moment. Vazquez has just renewed, I'm not selling him to Juve. I'm not really selling it."
