Eni launches the ordinary redundancy fund in Val d'Agri, for the 354 employees of the Viggiano Oil Center, seized by the Potenza Public Prosecutor's Office as part of the investigation into the alleged offenses in the disposal of waste water. This was communicated by the national oil group, specifying that "following the confirmation by the Court of review of Potenza of the seizure of plants functional to the operations of the Val d'Agri Oil Center, ordered by the Prosecutor of Potenza, and the interruption of the activities , Eni met with the Filctem Cgil, Femca Cisl, Uiltec Uil Territorial Secretariats and the Confederal Secretariats of Cgil, Cisl and Uil of Basilicata to represent the personnel situation of the Val d'Agri Oil Center, which currently employs 354 employees”.
In the logic of implementing "a gradual safety implementation of the plants, pending further developments of the situation", Eni informed the unions that "it will immediately launch a plan to reallocate resources within the scope of its activities and, at the same time , will activate the procedures for requesting income support measures for workers (ordinary redundancy fund). The letters of contractual suspension and work orders with the suppliers of the Oil Center are also being delivered".
The impact will therefore not only be on employees but also on related contractors. And in fact Federpetroli's reaction was harsh: “With the announcement of the blocking of contracts with the suppliers of the industrial related industries of the oil center of Viaggiano (Potenza) in Basilicata and the layoffs, Eni commits corporate suicide. We ask that they reflect, before carrying out other risky operations on the part of the state energy company” attacked the president Michele Marsiglia, after the diffusion of the communiqué of the Six-legged dog.
Eni has confirmed that it will present an appeal to the Supreme Court against the seizure order. Furthermore, separately from the appeal to the Cassation, he will request “a technical evidentiary incident in discussion with the Public Prosecutor's Office: a request to this effect will be filed shortly. The application will leverage the clear scientific evidence developed by a panel of independent experts which confirms the plant's compliance with international best practices, adopted for similar plants all over the world, and with Italian legislation".
