The Moderna vaccine must be transported at a temperature of -20 degrees, therefore the rules of the so-called "cold chain" must be respected. Therefore, “specific containers are used for the transport of the drug, isothermal, with cooling masses that guarantee the maintenance of the required temperature – explains Poste – Everything is then transported on vans with refrigerated cells. Transport and all activities ranging from the creation of the packaging to delivery to the point of administration are tracked with tools that record the temperature along the entire chain from taking charge to delivery".
Furthermore, the IT platform for tracking and administering vaccines for Covid-19 is operational which, for the Regions connected to the Italian Post Office systems, will offer online reservations, from the Postamat, via postmen, online or from the call centre. This was announced by Matteo Del Fante, CEO of Poste Italiane.
"We worked a lot with the Italian army to structure the Pratica di Mare site as a modern logistics center," said Del Fante, referring to the organization of logistics at the Roman military station.
