Liguria is the most expensive region for the mid-August weekend. In Portofino, in the days from 15 to 18 August, a room costs an average of 534 euros per night. This is what emerges from a study by Trivago, a hotel price search engine, which compared the rates of accommodation facilities in the main seaside cities of the Italian coast and islands. The Ligurian town is also more expensive than Porto Cervo (469 euros) and Forte dei Marmi (467 euros).
Cagliari is the least expensive seaside city in Italy to spend the mid-August bridge. The average price of a room in an accommodation facility, according to Trivago data, is 98 euros. Sardinia also places two other tourist resorts among the top ten least expensive in Italy. Alghero is fourth with an average price of 149 euros while Olbia is seventh with an average price of 158 euros. Among the less expensive cities there are also destinations on the Ionian Sea such as Taranto which has hotels for 110 euros and Policoro for 134.
