As expected, Donald Trump did not give up and signed the new anti-immigration ban, known as the "Travel Ban", which blocks entry into the United States for 90 days to citizens of six Muslim-majority countries who have not yet obtained a visa. The executive order also prevents refugees from entering for 120 days, whose annual number will be reduced from the 110 set by the Obama administration to 50.
The ban was issued by the Homeland Security Department in the afternoon and will come into force on March 16. Citizens of Sudan, Syria, Iran, Libya, Somalia and Yemen without a valid permit will not be able to enter the USA. Compared to what was established on 27 January, Iraq has been eliminated from the list. Furthermore, the new call will not concern green card and visa holders.
Deleted from the document any reference to religious minorities present in the first travel ban which had sparked furious protests throughout the country until its suspension by the Courts. The original ban envisaged blocking the entry of refugees into the United States for 4 months (indefinite stop for Syrians) and for three months that of citizens of Iraq, Iran, Syria, Sudan, Yemen, Somalia and Libya.
