Last week, the initial requests were 339 thousand, 2 thousand less than in the previous survey – This is the fifth consecutive weekly drop, but analysts' forecasts were disappointed: the estimates were for a greater decline, up to 332 thousand.

Usa: unemployment benefits fall, but less than expected

Il American workers that last week they requested for the first time the unemployment benefit there were 339 thousand, 2 thousand less than in the previous survey. 

This is the fifth consecutive weekly drop, but analysts' forecasts were disappointed: the estimates were for a greater decrease, down to 332 thousand. In addition, the previous week's figure was revised upwards to 341 units. The numbers were released today by the US Department of Labor. 

La four-week average, more reliable as it is not subject to market fluctuations, dropped to 344 thousand. The figure remains steadily below 400 units, a threshold which according to analysts marks the entry into a stalemate.

Il total number of workers receiving unemployment benefits for more than a week – for the week ending November 2, the last for which data is available – remained unchanged at 2.874.000.
