Usa: economic super index +0,4% in July, beyond expectations

Analysts had forecast a limited increase of 0,2% – In June there was a drop of 0,4% – The Michigan consumer confidence index also did well – Wall Street is off to a good start.

Il economic super index American rose in July beyond analysts' estimates. The data, published by the Conference Board, rose by 0,4%, after the 0,4% drop recorded the previous month. Analysts had expected a smaller increase, limited to 0,2%.

In the period considered, seven of the ten indicators recorded an improvement. The best trend was that of data relating to unemployment benefits and building permits, while the worst was that of new orders.

As for theconsumer confidence index calculated by the University of Michigan it rose in August, according to preliminary estimates, to 73,6 points, against 72,3 the previous month. The figure is higher than the expectations of analysts who indicated a stable figure at 72,2. 

The sub-index that measures confidence in the current conditions of the economy stood at 87,6, while the sub-index that measures confidence in future conditions stood at 64,5. As regards inflation, one-year expectations stood at 3,6%, while five-year expectations at 3%.

The indices of the American Stock Exchange are also starting up well: a Wall Street +0,21% for the Nasdaq and +0,09% for the Dow Jones.
