Good news from the US economy. First, the Conference Board announced that in May the Superindex, which provides a forecast of economic activity over the next 6-12 months, rose by 0,3%, up from April's reading which had shown a decline of 0,1%.
Then, the The number of weekly jobless claims fell slightly last week, despite the global level indicating a weakening of the labor market. Initial requests fell by 2 units to 387 in the week ending June 16. This was announced by the Department of Labor.
The estimates were for a decline of one thousand units, although last week's figure had been revised upwards from the first reading. The four-week moving average, considered a more reliable indicator, marks an increase of 3.500 requests to 386.250.
