The yield on Treasuries, US government bonds, fell below 2% for the first time, before recovering to 2,002%. Fears of a new recession have sparked a rush towards safe-haven assets such as gold and the Bund. But also towards US government bonds. Despite S&P's cut of US debt to AA+ from AAA, which points to a higher risk to debt solvency, investors continued to buy Treasuries heavily, driving valuations higher and yields lower.
