It's boom in acquisitions among American private equity funds, after the slowdown due to the financial crisis of recent years. Even if, as the Wall Street Journal explains, the size of the operations has decreased compared to previous years.
In 2012, so far, according to data collected by Dealogic, acquisitions have already been made for a total of 64,7 billion dollars, the highest since 2007, but the value of individual transactions has been on average lower. Furthermore, there remains uncertainty about the performance of the funds' activities in the coming months, mainly due to the financial turmoil that worries investors.
"There are many problems on the markets, but also factors supporting new acquisitions", said David Brown, legal adviser of Latham & Watkins, specifying that "the instability of the global economy and the outcome of the US presidential elections risk causing a investment slowdown.
