In the US houses cost less than last year, even if in June the Standard & Poor's Case-Shiller index recorded the third increase in three months. In the ten largest American cities and 20 largest metropolitan areas, home prices increased by 1,1%. On a year-over-year basis, however, prices are down 3,8% and 4,5% respectively. In the first quarter of the year, the indicator fell by 4,1%, while it grew by 3,6% in the April-June period. Home sales fell 3,5% to 4,67 million units in June, according to the National Association of Realtors. Compared to the same period in 2010, however, there was an increase of 21%.
