In the United States, consumer prices for the month of September rose by 0,3% compared to August and marked the third consecutive rise. Instead, the increase was 0,1% net of the volatile components. Analysts had forecast growth of 0,3% for the general index and 0,2% for the core component. On a trend level, the increase was 3,9% for the overall index (highest increase in 3 years) and 2% for the core component.

Also in September, the number of open shipyards in the United States rose 15% to a seasonally adjusted 658.000 units, a record in the last 17 months. The figure is well beyond the indications of analysts, who had anticipated an increase of 4,2%.
