Usa, orders for durable goods above expectations in February: +5,7%

US durable goods orders rebounded in February, up 5,7% to the seasonally adjusted $232,11 billion. The data is above the expectations of analysts who were expecting a 4% increase. The January figure was also revised from -5,2% to -3,8%. The rebound in February is mainly due to the 179 orders for new civil aircraft collected by Boeing which, in the previous month, had stopped at 2 units.

Defense orders are also growing, concentrated in this period before spending cuts are triggered. Outside of these highly volatile sectors, new orders for motor vehicles were up 3,8% while excluding transportation, they were down 0,5%.
