USA, online purchases reached one billion dollars on Black Friday

In America, online sales on Black Friday, the traditional day of shopping during the Thanksgiving holiday period, they reached the staggering $XNUMX billion mark for the first time.  Internet sales rose 26% to $1,04 billion from $816 million last year, according to data released by comScore Inc.

Amazon was the most used site. The online retailer also achieved the largest year-over-year visitor growth among the top five US retailers. Wal-Mart's site came in second, followed by Best Buy, Target and Apple.

Among the fastest growing categories were digital content, including eBooks, music and video, which saw a 29 percent increase. E-commerce accounts for less than 10% of US consumer spending. However it is outpacing traditional shopping, thanks to lower prices, greater selection and fast delivery.

ShopperTrak, which calculates spending at traditional retail stores, estimates Black Friday sales were $11,2 billion, down 1,8% from last year.
