Usa: applications for subsidies and orders for durable goods beyond expectations

Weekly jobless benefits in the United States are up more than expected. Requests stood at 343 in the past week, more than expectations which were for 340 requests. The previous week's figure was revised from 336 to 334. Subsidies have been particularly volatile in recent weeks due to seasonal factors, including the summer closures of auto factories.

Rising unemployment benefits did not dent US durable goods orders. The June figure rose 4,2% to $244,5 billion, compared to the revised +5,2% recorded the previous month (+3,5% first reading), also beating analysts' expectations . The data was communicated by the United States Department of Commerce. If we exclude the transport sector, the figure recorded a zero change, while excluding the defense sector, orders recorded an increase of 3%.
