Usa, not just the Fed: the Chamber avoids a new shutdown and arms the Syrian rebels

The eyes of the market were all focused on the Federal Reserve by Janet Yellen, which confirmed yesterday that it will keep interest rates at a low level even after the end of Quantitative Easing, but other crucial decisions were also taken in the US yesterday.

The House - with a Republican majority - approved the law authorizing the financing of government operations until 11 December. This was precisely the critical passage, since the green light from the Senate - with a Democratic majority - was taken for granted. This year, therefore, a new paralysis of federal services (the so-called "shutdown") will be avoided starting from XNUMX October, the date on which the fiscal year of the US federal state begins.

According to US law, Parliament must approve the measure by September 30th. If this does not happen, the "shutdown" is triggered, i.e. the freezing of non-essential federal services until the maneuver is squared up. Last year the House and Senate failed to reach an agreement, sending the country into a 16-day stalemate.

The law approved yesterday by the House also contains the authorization to arm the Syrian rebels as part of President Barack Obama's anti-ISIS plan.
