House prices fell in the United States in October. To indicate it is the Case Schiller index, calculated on the data collected in the 20 main cities of the country, down 1,2% month on month and 3,4% year over year. Of the 20 metropolitan areas, 19 reported declines from September.
The index fell sharply in Atlanta, where home prices fell 5% quarter on quarter, and in the Midwest (-1% in Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit and Minneapolis). Despite some year-on-year improvement, the index remains in negative territory in 18 of the 20 cities surveyed, according to index committee chairman David Blitzer.
