USA: Mary Jo White new director of the SEC

Former federal prosecutor Mary Jo White will be the new director of the US authority that monitors financial markets, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), as a White House spokesman announced today. White, who served nearly a decade as a Manhattan attorney, will replace Ellise Water.

President Obama's choice of White appears perfectly logical: the next director of the SEC has, in fact, extensive experience and knowledge of the world of finance, having also been, among other things, director of the Nasdaq. To her the difficult task of passing the new rules to reform Wall Street.
