Usa: "Europe must restructure the Greek debt"

From Washington comes a shore to Athens. Jack Lew, Secretary of the Treasury of the United States, said today that “Greece's public debt is unsustainable" is that "Europe must restructure it".

In a speech at the Brookings Institution in Washington, Lew explained that "the threat of a Greek collapse is a risk not worth taking."

Already two days ago the US president, Barack Obama, had expressed in a telephone call to the Greek premier Alexis Tsipras "the hope of the United States in a success of the negotiations on Greece".

In short, in the last few hours the White House has reiterated several times that it is against the Grexit hypothesis, worried about the impact it could have on the European economy and the repercussions on the American one.

Today, in his speech to the European Parliament, Tsipras said that "it is necessary to address the knot of debt sustainability and look at reality without taboos" and that Athens is asking "a cut in the debt in order to be able to repay the money: I remind you that the moment of maximum solidarity in the EU is was in 1953, when 60% of the German debt was cut, after the war”.
