Appointment in the oval office. A few hours fromagreement between Democrats and Republicans that avoided the default, the Italian premier lands in the United States Enrico Letta. The Prime Minister will be received in the morning by the number one of the White House, Barack Obama. The topics on the agenda are various: economic growth and jobs, support for the negotiations on the Transatlantic trade and investment partnership, collaboration with NATO and sensitive fronts in North Africa and the Middle East.
"It is not easy from the outside to understand the meaning of the agreement but even I - Letta told PBS in reference to the recent agreement on US debt -, I have my problems at home and I know that it is not easy to reach political agreements when there are clashes between opposing political factions”. The prime minister explained that he did not want to enter into American internal political issues, but underlined how "the rest of the world looks carefully at the decisions of the Senate and Congress, which are important for the growth of the world".
