In the period considered, according to data from the Federal Reserve, the capacity utilization rate rose by 7 tenths of a point to 78,4%, against 77,9% in the previous month.

Production in the manufacturing sector also rose, up 1,1%, while the mining and utilities sectors recorded increases of 0,8 and 1% respectively.

As for theinflation, fell by 0,3% month-on-month in November, after the +0,1% recorded in October. Analysts had expected a decline of 0,2%. It is the first drop in US inflation since last May. On an annual basis, inflation rose by 1,8%, again less than expected (+1,9%).

The "core" figure, which excludes energy and food prices, rose by 0,1% on a monthly basis, less than the +0,2% in October and the -0,2% expected by analysts.

Breaking down the indicator, energy prices fell by 4,1%, while food prices rose by 0,2%. The price of petrol fell by 7,4%.
