Usa, the snow storm rages: at least 19 dead

At least 19 people have died in five US states after the monstrous storm that hit the eastern region of the country. New York Mayor Bill De Blasio has confirmed the deaths of three people while from North Carolina comes the news of six deaths in traffic accidents caused by snow. Two died in Virginia and two more in Kentucky while one person lost his life in Maryland.

The storm is expected to bring up to 60 inches of snow to Washington between yesterday afternoon and Sunday morning. It is precisely in the American capital that the worst is expected. It is no coincidence that public schools will be closed tomorrow and civil servants will be able to go home at noon. But snow and strong winds (up to 80 kilometers per hour) have also begun to hit Philadelphia, New York City and Boston: in the Pennsylvania city the snowfall should reach 45 centimeters while in those of New York and Massachusetts it is estimated reach 30 cm.

It is not at all excluded that the storm will cause moderate flooding along the coast facing the Atlantic in Delaware and New Jersey. And before it can hit the so-called East Coast, bad weather will arrive in Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina and Virginia where 5 to 15 centimeters of snow are expected in some areas. Meanwhile, governors in Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania have declared a state of emergency. In the first case, the snowstorm could be the worst since 2010 and Governor Larry Hogan has warned: electrical blackouts are not excluded. People are advised not to get behind the wheel especially in the peak of the storm expected between tomorrow evening and Saturday morning. In Virginia, Governor Terry McAuliffe doesn't rule out downed trees, blocked roads and electricity outages.

The cocktail of snow and winds is bound to disrupt transportation in the United States. According to the FlightAware website, airlines have already canceled 500 flights scheduled for tomorrow. In total, 10 flights have been canceled since yesterday.
