In September in the United States, the ISM non-manufacturing index fell to 53 from 53,3 in August. The data is better than the expectations of analysts who expected a reading of 52,9 points.
The index remains above the threshold of 50 points, which marks the threshold between expansion and contraction of economic activity. As for the non-manufacturing economic activity index, it rose to 57,1 (the highest since last March) from 55,6, against a consensus estimate of 54,5.
The data on new orders increased to 56,5 from 52,8, the employment index decreased to 48,7 from 51,6, the lowest since April 2010.
