Usa: GDP is growing (+1,9%), but disappointing

Growth lower than expected for the US economy in the fourth quarter of 2016. This is what emerges from the second estimate of the data released by the Commerce Department, according to which GDP increased by 1,9%, as already highlighted in the preliminary estimate. Analysts had expected a +2,1 percent.

The final figure for the third quarter was +3,5%, after +1,4% in the second quarter and +0,8% in the first.

House prices in the United States also continue to rise. In December, the national average on an annual basis increased by 5,6%, according to the Standard & Poor's/Case-Shiller index, which measures the trend in the cost of American homes. The same growth had been recorded the previous month.

The year-on-year figure for the top ten metropolitan areas rose 4,9%, after 4,5% in November, while that for the top 5,6 cities rose 5,3%, up from 0,3% a month earlier . On a monthly basis, the two indices on the main cities grew by 0,2%, while the national one by XNUMX percent.
