Usa, do you have a firearms license? Discount in pizzeria and reductions in hotels. And on Valentine's Day…

To defend the right to carry firearms in the United States, various dealers are launching curious initiatives, offering discounts and promotions to licensed customers – particularly chilling is the one proposed on Valentine's Day by Carter's Diamond in Mississippi: buy a jewel, you gift a rifle.

Usa, do you have a firearms license? Discount in pizzeria and reductions in hotels. And on Valentine's Day…

In the United States, despite the recent massacres (most recently the one in Newtown) and despite the fact that the president who has just been re-elected by the majority of citizens is waging a bitter battle on a more conscious and less free use of firearms, they still continue to be appreciated .

So much so that to defend the freedom to carry firearms there are even those who have thought of offering discounts on their products to customers who come with a copy of the permit or even (even better, perhaps) directly armed. Like Virginia Beach's All Around Pizzas and Deli, which the Los Angeles Times offered a 15% reduction to this type of patrons. Or like that Utah ice-yogurt merchant who started the "second amendment week" (the one that guarantees the license to carry firearms in the US), offering a 1 dollar discount for each ice cream purchased.

The saddest thing is that the initiatives have not gone unnoticed, given that the pizzeria in Virginia has, for example, declared that in recent days as many as 80% of customers have shown up armed and has therefore decided to extend the promotion, initially thought only for a few days, on a date to be determined.

Whims of traders' lobbies, one might think. But no, because according to the British The Economist, the power of the National Rifle Association (the association of gun license holders, which has over 4 million members) has also influenced much larger businesses, such as those of two of the largest hotel chains in the world, Best Western and Wyndham , which are officially listed as "friends of the NRA" and offer discounts and concessions to that type of clientele.

But that is not all. Even the most romantic and peaceful holiday of all, Valentine's Day, has been stained by gunpowder: in Mississippi, Carter's Diamond Jewelers has even offered a free rifle for every diamond purchased for a loved one. But you know: love isn't beautiful if it's not a bit of a fight…
