Even today, the data coming from the American economy tell a bad story in Washington. This time the bad news comes from the trade deficit, which surprisingly rose to $53,07 billion in June. A significant increase, considering that only a month earlier the figure stopped at 50,83 billion.
Yet another disconfirmation for US analysts, who had even predicted a drop in the deficit to 48 billion dollars. The negative performance was determined by a sharp drop in exports (-2,3%), accompanied by a decidedly smaller drop in imports (-0,8%). The deficit with China rose from $24,9 billion to $26,6 billion.
