Usa-Korea: the "peace summit" on 12 June in Singapore

The historic summit between Donald Trump and Kim Jong-Un will be held, as had been in the air for days, in Singapore on June 12th. The news is now official: the American president revealed it on his Twitter profile. Trump assures, in the tweet, that "we will both try to make it a very special moment for peace in the world". The tycoon's announcement comes the day after Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's successful mission to North Korea, which in addition to creating the conditions for a thaw between the two countries, managed to bring home three American prisoners who were held by the Pyongyang regime.

"I am pleased to inform that the secretary of state is returning from North Korea with three people that everyone wants to see again," Trump had already tweeted yesterday. The three Americans were released "in good health": Kim Dong-chul, Tony Kim and Kim Kak-song and were detained for espionage and hostile acts against North Korea and their release was a condition set by Trump to fix the summit with the North Korean leader.

The summit with President Donald Trump it will bring positive developments with respect to the recent tensions: this was assured by the North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un himself on the sidelines of the meeting with Pompeo. "It will be a historic summit for an excellent first step towards positive scenario development in the Korean peninsula and building a good future," Kim said in the KCNA report.

While one front of tension closes, another opens for the USA. Donald Trump's decision to exit the nuclear deal with Iran it will not be without consequences. The EU, Russia and China will remain present in the agreement with Tehran, but the break with Washington will undoubtedly have repercussions on trade, with possible cross-sanctions and damages also for countries like Italy.
