A newco in which to bring in new shareholders to allow them not to take on the financial ballast of the past, which would instead remain in the current company, which would turn into a bad company. The same scheme created for Alitalia for the benefit of Etihad and Poste Italiane could also be used for Ilva.
According to what Il Messaggero writes today, this would be Pietro Gnudi's project to help ArcelorMittal and the other members of the Italian consortium save the most important Italian iron and steel hub. The extraordinary commissioner allegedly discussed it with the bankers also on the sidelines of the recent Ambrosetti Forum in Cernobbio.
During these talks, Gnudi would have clarified that all the group companies, employees and debts would flow into the new Nuova Ilva company, but only those relating to the activities carried out. On the other hand, the lawsuits would remain with the current bad company.
