University: raised thresholds for scholarships

The government has raised the Isee and Ispe thresholds for access to scholarships universities, thus widening the audience of beneficiaries. The new parameters of the indicators of the balance sheet rise respectively to 23 thousand and 50 thousand euros. This was announced by the Minister of Education, Stefania giannini, specifying that the modification of the parameters was included in a "decree signed on Wednesday evening. There is a notable recovery of almost all of the drop in scholarships which amounted to 21%: according to our forecasts there will be a recovery of 20%, therefore almost everything”.

The decision came in response to protests by students against a penalty in the application of some Ispe parameters. “I agree with that part of the students – explained Giannini – we have revisited them meeting their requests and evaluating with the Ministry of Labor how much can be recovered and how much will remain within a framework of equity and a diagnosis of tax evasion".

Secondo Alberto Campailla, spokesperson for Link – University Coordination, “is an important victory for the students who mobilized in all the universities of Italy this year. The decree arrived late but this time it accepted the requests of the excluded students, who next year will again be able to fall below the thresholds set for accessing the scholarship. However, we paid dearly for the delay: many students this year have had serious difficulties”.

For Andrea Fiorini, president of the National University Student Council, “the ministerial decree for raising the thresholds as proposed is very important and goes in the direction indicated by the Council. Argina for the future part of the problems deriving from the new Isee, but the bitterness remains for this academic year for which an adequate solution has not been found ".
