Unipol: red by 390 million in the half year, weighs the bank

The Unipol group recorded a loss of €390m in the first half of the year. Weighing on the accounts is the restructuring plan of the banking sector, which "has determined – reads a note – a negative economic effect of €780m on the half-yearly accounts of the subsidiary Unipol Banca".

Without this operation on non-performing loans, therefore excluding the effects of the adjustments, the Bologna-based group would have closed the half year with net profits up to 390 million (compared to 276 million in the first half of 2016). “The growth – explains the note accompanying the accounts – is due in particular to the better contribution of financial management”.

Direct insurance premiums amounted to €6,3 billion (€8,4 billion in the first half of 2016).

The board of directors has appointed Massimo Desiderio as a non-executive and independent director of the company to replace Sandro Alfredo Pierri.
