Unipol rakes up Bper shares and rises to 9,9%

Unipol is betting on Bper with the aim of creating the fifth largest Italian financial group with assets of 55 billion euro. According to "la Repubblica", the coop insurance group, which officially holds 5% of the Banca Popolare dell'Emilia e Romagna, has recently raked up many Bper shares on the stock exchange and currently stands at 9,99% of the Modena bank. that is, just below the threshold beyond which it is necessary to ask the Supervisory Authority of the Bank of Italy for authorization to increase the share capital.

However, the games will come to light soon and that is on May 22 when Bper will distribute the dividend. The operation officially has the purpose of defending the distribution agreement in progress between Unipol and Bper but it is clear that it has more ambitious objectives and aims, that is, to allow the insurance group to make the long-awaited dimensional leap and to dilute or sell the receivables problem loans of Unipol Banca
