Unipol-Bnl, Berlusconi indicted

After the Mills, Mediaset and Ruby processes, Silvio Berlusconi was indicted for disclosure of official secrecy in the Unipol-Bnl case and will be judged once again by the Criminal Court of Milan. The Gup, before accepting the prosecutor's requests, had rejected the exception of territorial incompetence in favor of the Monza judiciary. The process will begin on March 15th.

In the Chamber, the Knight defended himself by claiming he did not remember the episode: "In Arcore I receive many people and many phone calls, I never listened to that tape, I never ordered it to be released. If I had listened to it, I would remember it”.

The facts date back to December 2005, when the newspaper (the newspaper in the hands of Paolo Berlusconi, brother of Silvio) published a telephone interception between Piero Fassino and Giovanni Consorte, at the time respectively secretary of the DS and number one of Unipol.

"So… Do we have a bank?“, these are the words spoken by the Turin politician in that conversation, which was recorded during the investigation into the attempted takeover of Bnl by Unipol. The recording had not yet been transcribed in the investigation records at the time of publication in the Journal. The text was brought to Arcore on 24 December 2005 by two entrepreneurs – Paolo Berlusconi was also present -, and a week later published in the Giornale.

Even the brother of the Knight is under trial with ordinary rite. The trial against him will resume on March 6 and will almost certainly be unified with that of Silvio Berlusconi. But for the number one of the Pdl the accusation will be statute barred already in the middle of next year.
