Unipol announces a positive first quarter: today the shareholders' meeting

In the first quarter 2012 Unipol posted collection data in chiaroscuro. As regards the non-life sector, the insurance company reached 1.075 million euro (+0,7% on an annual basis), while production in the Life sector stopped at 580 million (-9%). These are some advances on the numbers that will be discussed today in the Shareholders' Meeting.

The number of complaints registered in Motor TPL decreased by 11,8% compared to the first quarter of 2011, while the speed of settlement is up by more than 3 percentage points compared to the same period last year. It strengthens the solvency situation of the group, which as at 31 March is estimated to be around 1,5 times the required requirements, corresponding to a capital surplus of over one billion euro.

On the basis of these numbers, Unipol expects to close the first quarter with a positive result "significant improvement" compared to the same period of 2011. After the tile arrived from the Antitrust, however, today's news is not enough to reverse the performance of the stock on the Stock Exchange, which at the opening is negative by 0,9%.
