Unioncamere: squeeze on credit, Molise and Sardinia the most affected regions

Companies in Molise and Sardinia are the hardest hit by the credit crunch. In the two regions, according to what was announced by Unioncamere citing data from the Bank of Italy and the Tagliacarne institute, the drop in loans was double the national average: -5% against -2,5% in the period between June 2011 and June 2012.

Companies in Molise and Sardinia are the hardest hit by the credit crunch. In the two regions, according to what was announced by Unioncamere citing data from the Bank of Italy and the Tagliacarne institute, the drop in loans was double the national average: -5% against -2,5% in the period between June 2011 and June 2012.

Consistent decreases, hand in hand with the worsening of the crisis, occurred in the north-east (-3,1%) and north-west (-3,4%) area. On the other hand, the banking system seems to have shown itself to be more available to the needs of the economic fabric in the South (-1,4%) and above all in the Center (-1%).

In addition to Molise and Sardinia, several regions report an above-average reduction. Among these, Friuli Venezia Giulia (-4%), Veneto and Calabria (-3,9%), Lombardy (-3,5%). On the opposite front, companies in Valle d'Aosta (+1,1%), Sicily (+0,4%), Abruzzo (+0,3%) and Lazio (+0,1%) recorded an increase in loans granted %). Overall, Italian companies obtained 978 billion euros instead of the 1.003 billion granted in the same period of the previous year.

Contrary trend for household credit, which increased in average terms by 1,2% between June 2011 and June 2012, with peaks of +1,7% in Lombardy and only two regions (Basilicata, -1,4% and Valle d 'Aosta -0,5%) which show decreases. Sustained increases also occurred in Molise (+1,4%) and Piedmont (+1,3%).
