Unioncamere: companies under 35, 1 out of 3 is a woman

Almost one company out of three under 35s is female-driven. To say it is the Observatory for female entrepreneurship of Unioncamere e InfoRooms, according to which beyond 171mila young business units, equal to 28,11% of the total, would be led by women. A much greater share than the rest of our economic fabric where the 1 million and 310 thousand female enterprises represent 21,62% of the total of Italian enterprises.

They are 44 thousand women who lead businesses in the sectors most typically linked to female entrepreneurship, among which the more than 20 young women's businesses stand out which mainly deal with personal services and the 1.800 businesses linked to the world of health and assistance, the two areas in which the the weight of the female presence on the total number of enterprises is greater.

Following this, always remaining in the wake of tradition, female entrepreneurs under 35 lead almost half of youth initiatives in the education sector and represent over a third of young businesses operating in tourism and catering.

But one of the major novelties brought to light by the report by Unioncamere and InfoCamere is that young Italian business women are "vying for the place" with men in sectors usually the prerogative of the male component, such as that of financial and insurance activities, for example, in which the 5 female entrepreneurs under 35 are over 33% of young Italian businesses, but also the 2.600 businesses in the arts, sports and entertainment sector (32%), or the over 3 real estate businesses (30%) or the 4.600 businesses professional, scientific and technical (29%).

At a geographical level, Molise, Basilicata and Abruzzo have long been the regions in which the incidence of activities led by women on the total number of enterprises is higher, but in the ranking referring to the universe of under 35 enterprises, the first position is occupied byUmbria, with a 32% rate of feminisation of youth companies.

Followed by Abruzzo and Basilicata (where young women's enterprises account for 35% of the total number of under 30 initiatives), then the Marches, fourth in this particular ranking but only eighth in that referring to total enterprises. Lastly, young Venetian women seem to have an edge over the female entrepreneurial universe of the region: they exceed 28% among young enterprises, they do not reach 20% of the total enterprises.
