Unioncamere: foreign companies in Italy at 546 thousand, +19% in the last 3 years. Indian boom

In the last 3 years, foreign companies in Italy have increased by 19%. Between July and September they grew by 1,51% against the 0,34% growth of Italian companies. In total, there are 546 foreign companies in Italy, one in four of which is started by an under 35. Boom of Indians. This is what emerges from the elaborations of Unioncamere-InfoCamere.

There are more and more foreign companies in Italy young and dynamic. This is demonstrated by a Unioncamere-Infocamere report drawn up on the basis of data from the last three years of the business register. In the period examined, foreign companies in Italy are increased by 19%. Only between July and September 2015 did they advance at a rate four times higher than the rest of the productive fabric (+1,51% against +0,34%), contributing to 40% of the growth achieved by the entire Italian entrepreneurial system.

Remaining in the last twelve months, it was above all the owners of sole proprietorships coming from who lengthened the pace from India (+25,8%), Bangladesh (+21,1%) and Pakistan (+20,3%). A boom that brought the share of foreign companies in Italy to 546 at the end of September. One company out of four is headed by an under 35, against 10% of all Italian companies.

Foreign companies: geographical distribution  

The favorite regions of foreign entrepreneurs are Lombardy (18%), Lazio (11,8%) and Tuscany (9,9%). Moroccans and Romanians prefer Lombardy as the seat of their businesses, while Tuscany is the land chosen by the Chinese community (20,6%), with the lion's share held by the province of Prato where one sole proprietorship out of four has a Chinese owner. Lombardy is also the Italian region preferred by Albanian entrepreneurs, while in Lazio the migrants from Bangladesh above all decide to "do business": as of last September 30, almost half (43,9%) of the 28 sole proprietorships present in Italy a Bengali was based in the region.

The Asian countries are those that in the last year show the highest growth trends, both in absolute and relative values: the nation that has recorded the greatest increase in absolute terms (+5.113 sole proprietorships in the last twelve months) is that of Bangladesh, while in relative terms it is India (+25,8%). Also noteworthy are the results achieved by entrepreneurs born in Pakistan (12.289 as at 30 September last) which grew by 2 in absolute value and by over 20% in relative terms.

Foreign companies: one out of four under 35s 

Unioncamere numbers show that foreign entrepreneurs in Italy are an army of young people: one foreign company out of four is juvenile against 10% of companies considered as a whole. Among the sectors favored by young foreigners, rental, travel agencies and business services stand out (chosen by 28% of non-Italian entrepreneurs), accommodation and catering (one foreign company out of 4 is under 35) and construction (over 24% ). In total in Italy as of 30 September there were 124 under-35 foreign businesses out of a total of 608.545 youth businesses.
