Unioncamere: 750 hires expected in 2013, but the balance remains negative by 250

The employment balance will be negative for 250 units this year, the result of the 750 expected personnel entries against 1 million individuals leaving. The data is provided by the Excelsior information system, created by Unioncamere and the Ministry of Labour, which monitors the employment forecasts of industrial and service companies.

The part of the production system which, in spite of everything, is holding up to the crisis and which this year will take on staff, represents a share equal to 13,2% of all companies with employees considered. The peak in the propensity to hire will be recorded among companies oriented towards exports and innovation, for which the continuous improvement of human capital is a lever for maintaining a high level or further increasing their competitive profile. The increased quality of human resources will be accompanied, in company programs, by a slightly more widespread orientation towards the stabilization of the figures who will be integrated into the company: compared to 2012, permanent employment contracts will in fact "earn" in 2013 one percentage point, representing more than a fifth of total revenue.

Conversely, the negative dynamics of employment will tend to hit above all those areas (territorial, sectoral, company size) most closely dependent on the internal market: the South (from which 35% of the total negative balance is expected), companies with fewer than 10 employees (who expect to reduce the workforce by 142.600), construction (-59 thousand), retail trade (-24.500), the tourism sector (-25.100).

In the face of an expected reduction in the GDP of around 2%, the employment balance is estimated to be negative by more or less 1%, observes the Minister of Labor Enrico Giovannetti, data which show that companies are trying to keep the workforce.
