Unilever acquires GSK in Asia for 3,3 billion

Unilever has acquired the pharmaceutical group GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) in Asia for 3,3 billion euros. The operation was announced by the Anglo-Dutch food and cosmetics multinational itself which, in a note, explains that the assets acquired are included in the "healthcare, food and beverage" portfolio and are based in India, Bangladesh and 20 others markets, mainly Asian.

We recall that on 29 November Unilever also announced an important change at the top. After 10 years at the helm of the company, the CEO Paul Polman has left his chair to Alan Jope, 54, current head of the "beauty & personal care" division. Polman "will support the transition process in the first half of 2019 and will leave the company in early July", while Jope will assume the position starting from January.
