Unicredit spends 300 million to save 4 banks

In the fourth quarter, the institute will pay around 210 million pre-tax, which will add to the 90 million already paid – Loans to the Resolution Fund for just under 1,3 billion are also on the way.

Unicredit spends 300 million to save 4 banks

The account that amounts to around 300 million euros Unicredit will have to pay for the rescue of Banca Marche, Banca Etruria, Carife and Carichieti. The funds will be donated as an extraordinary contribution to the Resolution Fund to manage the crisis of the four institutions. 

In detail, in the fourth quarter the institute will pay around 210 million pre-tax, which will be added to the 90 million already paid. As regards Unicredit's total loans to the Resolution Fund, the disbursement of approximately 780 million is envisaged, a portion of the total 2,35 billion which will be repaid in December 2015 with the contributions that will have been paid to the Fund by the Italian banking system. 

Then there is the disbursement of an 18-month loan minus one day of approximately 550 million, a portion of the total 1,65 billion, against which the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti has undertaken to provide financial support in the event of incapacity of the fund on the maturity date.
