UniCredit was awarded the “Best Bank in Italy” award by The Banker magazine, a publication that is part of the Financial Times Group.

UniCredit was also awarded the "Best Bank in Hungary". The awards were presented at a ceremony in London. Gabriele Piccini, Country Chairman Italy, declared: “We are very satisfied and honored by the award given to us by The Banker magazine as the best bank in Italy. It is a prestigious acknowledgment of the successes achieved by the group and by all colleagues in restructuring the Italian business, in a period of recession for the country. Today, the Italian commercial bank of the UniCredit group has not only firmly regained sustainable profitability, but is also in the best conditions to support the economic recovery that has begun in Italy.

UniCredit will disburse 100 billion euros of new credit between now and 2018, of which 60 billion to businesses and 40 billion to households, at the same time playing a primary role in helping small and medium-sized Italian enterprises to diversify their sources of financing and to access the capital market.

“Best Bank in Hungary” rewards the good performance of the bank in the country and the importance that Central and Eastern Europe has for UniCredit. As highlighted in the Strategic Plan to 2018, recently presented by UniCredit, CEE will continue to represent a growth engine for the Group.
