Unicredit for the environment: renewal of Emas registration in all Italian sites

Unicredit has received the renewal of Emas registration from Ecolabel and Ecoaudit. Emas, acronym for Eco-Management and Audit Scheme, is a community instrument for the certification of environmental management systems. All organizations that want an assessment of their environmental performance and wish to provide the market with information on their environmental management can join EMAS.

Unicredit's Emas registration dates back to 2002 and embraced what was the perimeter of the parent company for ten years (5 sites and just over 4 employees). With the incorporation in Italy of all the segment banks (2010), Unicredit has extended the Emasai to its 4500 sites and 45 employees

Unicredit manages direct environmental impacts, for which it has direct control and in which it has shown clear improvements. For example reduced greenhouse gas emissions (this has been a 24% decrease since 2008, well ahead of the 30% target for 2020). The group has also made progress with regard to indirect environmental impacts: just think that a supplier selection system based on sustainability criteria was developed and on a green e-procurement platform developed with the WWF.
