Unicredit, appointments: Andreotti, son of Giulio, vice president

Surprise in Unicredit: the Board of Directors - with the support of the Corporate Governance, Nomination and Sustainability Committee - has appointed Councilor Lamberto Andreotti, son of the former politician Giulio, several times Prime Minister in the history of the First Republic. Andreotti thus supports President Bisoni in a delicate moment for the bank which will present the new industrial plan at the end of November: the son of the historical leader of the Christian Democrats has no experience as a banker, but has a prestigious curriculum as a manager in the pharmaceutical industry, in particular In the USA.

The Board of Directors of the bank in Piazza Gae Aulenti has also appointed the director Maria Pierdicchi as Chairman of the Related Parties Committee and the director Francesca Tondi as a member of the Internal Controls & Risks Committee. The decision was adopted following the appointment of Cesare Bisoni as Chairman of the Board of Directors (20 September 2019) in place of Fabrizio Saccomanni and the resignation of Martha Böckenfeld (18 September 2019).

Chairman Bisoni remains a pro tempore member of the Corporate Governance, Nomination and Sustainability Committee, so that he can play an active role in the selection process of two non-executive directors in place of Saccomanni and Böckenfeld. Once the process is complete, a new member of the aforementioned Committee will be appointed in place of President Bisoni.

Furthermore, the Unicredit Board of Directors has announced the appointment of Wouter Devriendt a responsible for the Group Finance and Control function. Devriendt is currently Chief Executive Officer of Dexia (Brussels) and of Dexia Crédit Local (Paris), which he joined in 2016. He will assume his role at Unicredit in early 2020 and report directly to the Group CEO, Jean Pierre Mustier. The new Finance and Control function was created in early 2019 as part of a broader reorganization and was temporarily led by the Group CEO.

Finally, Cedric Derras, until now Global Head of Cash Management, has been appointed head of Corporate & Investment Banking for the Middle East and Africa area, while Raphael Barisaac ed Emmanuel De Resseguier assume the role of Global Co-Head of cash management.
