Unicredit, Ghizzoni: "Credit application restarts, Tlter already finished"

“We thought we'd run out of i Tlrto funds in July, however, they are essentially finished. The demand for credit is turning out to be higher than expected”. This was said today in Rome by Federico Ghizzoni, CEO of Unicredit, on the sidelines of the Forum "The industry of great beauty", in reference to the low-cost liquidity that the Bank received in September from the ECB to finance the real economy.

“We are observing a increased demand for credit – continued the manager – no longer to finance working capital only, but rather on longer maturities linked to investment spending. A question that comes from the best medium-sized Italian companies”.

Ghizzoni then underlined that Unicredit it is not interested "in acquisitions in Italy", preferring to remain “focused on internal growth”. Any possible investment in cooperative banks (which will become purchasable after the reform passed to the government) or in Banca Carige, for which Unicredit "only plays the role of Global Coordinator" in the capital increase, is therefore excluded, concluded Ghizzoni.

In mid-morning, the Unicredit stock on the Stock Exchange dropped half a percentage point, a 5,545 euro.
