UniCredit Foundation: 500 euros to projects to combat educational poverty

The first edition of “Call for Education – Italy Regions”, solidarity initiative promoted by UniCredit Foundation and created with the support of UniCredit thanks to “Card E” project in support of projects to combat educational poverty carried out by non-profit organizations throughout the country.

The call has identified educational projects for young people in the 11-19 age group (lower and upper secondary school), with particular focus of:

  • fight against early school leaving
  • acquisition of adequate skills for the continuation of university studies
  • acquisition of appropriate skills for entry into the world of work

Out of a total of 55 nominations were 4 training projects awarded with a total amount of 500 thousand euros.

What is UniCredit's Carta E project

E card, active since 2005, is a solidarity project of UniCredit linked to the use of “Etiche” credit cards. This charity project, paid entirely by the bank, foresees that 2 per thousand of the expenses made in the month - with one of the 'ethical' credit cards issued by the Bank - go to feed, without any charge for the card holder, a specific Fund whose availability is destined for various solidarity initiatives and projects carried out by non-profit organizations, which set themselves socially useful objectives.

“This first edition of the Call for Education - Italy Regions posted great interest and participation. Early school leaving and the failure to acquire adequate skills for continuing university studies or for entering the world of work are widespread phenomena in most of the countries where the Group operates. This is due to various factors, but largely depends on the socio-economic and cultural conditions of the families and territories where the children are born and grow up. There school represents a essential garrison in contrast to inequalities. This is why we are committed and work every day to support young people in their studies by promoting opportunities for learning and growth, so that no one is left behind" he commented Silvia Cappellini, General Manager of UniCredit Foundation.
