Unicredit and investment opportunities in Southern Italy

They are called ZES, special economic zones, and are those areas, mostly Regions of Southern Italy, which, in order to attract greater foreign investments, enjoy economic legislation that is different from the legislation in force in the country to which they belong. To take care of this interesting business opportunity, and above all to help make it known, is Unicredit, which is going ahead with the international roadshow to encourage companies interested in investing in SEZs, where they can benefit from important tax breaks, financial advantages and simplified administrative and customs procedures.

After Vienna, it was recently the turn of Munich, in Germany: at the HVB headquarters, the Italian bank illustrated what the ZES mean, established by decree law in 2017 and identified in Sicily, Calabria, Basilicata, Puglia, Campania, Sardinia, Abruzzo and Molise. 30 German entrepreneurs took part in the meeting organized by Unicredit, all potentially interested in investing in the southern regions, to whom the advantages envisaged by the measure were illustrated.

"The ZES are an important growth incentive measure for the south of the country, as has already happened in other European countries - he commented Andrea Casini, Co-CEO Commercial Banking Italy of Unicredit – trying to attract large investments by companies in the ZES areas can in fact be a driving force to promote a new development of the regions of the South, to the benefit of the whole country. Unicredit makes its international network available to the local area, with leading banks in 14 strategic markets and an important operational presence in 18 other countries around the world, precisely with the aim of encouraging the inflow of investments, which is today essential for promoting lasting and sustainable development over time. Precisely for this reason we have also made available a ceiling of 1 billion euro for companies wishing to invest in the ZES, starting from Sicily, with the aim of extending the initiative to other ZES already operational as well”.
