Unicredit, from Pekao capital gain of 135 million

Banca di Piazza Cordusio sold 9,1% of the Polish subsidiary, placing each security at around 37 euros – The gain will be allocated to capital reserves.

Unicredit sold to institutional investors 9,1% of the Polish bank Bank Pekao SA (about 23,9 million ordinary shares). Each stock was placed at 37,15 euros, a sum which incorporates a discount of approximately 6% compared to the last closing price of Pekao.

The total collection - reads a note - amounted to approximately 890 million euros and resulted in the realization of a capital gain of approximately 135 million, entirely allocated to capital reserves.

To conclude the transaction, Unicredit made use of Ubs Limited and UniCredit Ca-Ib Poland SA as joint global coordinators and Citi and Joint Bookrunners for the offer.

However, Unicredit maintains a majority stake in the Polish Bank, corresponding to 50,1% of the share capital. In Piazza Cordusio they do not foresee any sale of Pekao shares after the latest offer. 

About an hour after the start of trading, Unicredit shares lost 0,22% in Piazza Affari.
