Unicredit: Beretta promoted to Head of Institutional Affairs & Sustainability

Unicredit announces that Maurizio Beretta, Head of Identity & Communications of the Group since 2011, has been promoted to Head of Institutional Affairs & Sustainability and President of the Foundations now united in the Unicredit Foundation – Max Hohenberg will join Unicredit as the new Head of Identity & Communications of the Group.

Unicredit announces that Maurizio Beretta, Head of Identity & Communications of the group since 2011, has been promoted to Head of Institutional Affairs & Sustainability and President of the Foundations now united in the Unicredit Foundation, and that Max Hohenberg will join Unicredit at the end of May as the new Head of Identity & Communications of the Group.

The new Institutional Affairs & Sustainability structure of the Group, headed by Maurizio Beretta, will handle relations with institutional counterparties and opinion leaders, as well as Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, Social Impact Banking activities, the Foundation Unicredit, cultural sponsorships and donations. Maurizio Beretta will continue to report to the CEO, Jean Pierre Mustier and remains a permanent guest of the Group's executive management committee.

Max Hohenberg, international communications expert with in-depth knowledge of the Italian context, will lead Group Identity & Communication, which includes Media Relations, Internal Communication, Digital Communications and Brand Management at Group level. He will also work closely with the Group's Institutional Affairs & Sustainability and Investor Relations team to ensure consistency of messaging and communication approach across the Group. Max Hohenberg will report directly to CEO Jean Pierre Mustier and will become a permanent guest on the Group's executive management committee.

Maurizio Beretta began his career at Rai, and spent 20 years as a journalist, special correspondent and director of RaiUno before joining the Fiat Group in 2001, where in 2003 he became director of institutional and international relations. Maurizio Beretta was General Manager of Confindustria from 2004 to 2009 and member of the Board of Directors of Cnel, which allowed him to strengthen his experience and his important network of relationships. In March 2011, Maurizio assumed the role of Head of Identity & Communications at Unicredit.

Max Hohenberg, an Austrian who speaks fluent Italian, English and French, prior to UniCredit, was a Partner at CNC Communications, the leading German international communications consultancy and also responsible for the Austrian activities of
CNC. He has extensive consulting experience in political communications, corporate communications, IR and strategic development. In the two-year period 2013-14 Max Hohenberg took care of the communications relating to compliance reforms for the IOR. Prior to joining CNC in 2002, Max spent six years at SalomonSmithBarney (Citigroup) where he covered capital markets and was co-head of IPOs for the German and Austrian markets. Max Hohenberg holds an MA from the London School of Economics.
