Unicredit-Bei: 400 million loans to Italian SMEs

Unicredit has signed an agreement with the European Investment Bank. The two institutes will make available 400 million euros - 200 each, in order to support the innovation and digital transformation of small and medium-sized Italian enterprises.

Loans will be granted both for new projects and for projects already underway provided they are not yet completed and have not already been financed.

“The interventions are intended for companies active in all productive sectors: agriculture, craftsmanship, industry, commerce, tourism and services; pure financial and/or real estate investment projects are excluded from the scope of the agreement”, explains Unicredit in a note, specifying that the loans will go to innovative companies or companies that create innovative processes and products.

"EIB funds can be used to finance projects that have a maximum individual cost of 25 million euros and can cover 100% of the loan for an amount not exceeding 12,5 million euros for each project", continues Unicredit .

The new credit line adds to the agreements already signed regarding MidCap companies and agricultural enterprises. In the last 5 years, Unicredit and the EIB have granted loans to Italian companies for around 5 billion euros.
