UniCredit announced that Alessandro Santoliquido will be the new head of the pan-European insurance business starting from 1 July 2024. Santoliquido will be responsible for the implementation of the Group's insurance strategies, a sector in which UniCredit foresees strong dynamics and growth potential.
“Alessandro's appointment will further strengthen our capabilities in the insurance sector, consistent with our commitment to enhance our three product factories and provide best-in-class solutions to customers across our networks” he commented Richard Burton, Head of Client Solutions at UniCredit.
The profile of Alessandro Santoliquido
Alessandro Santoliquido was recently General Director of Cronos Life Insurance, a company created to save Eurovita, where he worked as Commissioner for extraordinary management appointed by IVASS. He collaborated with Ivass, Ania and the Ministry of Economy to find a sustainable solution for Eurovita, protecting the insured and preventing wider contagion.
Previously, Santoliquido has held various leadership roles in the Allianz Group, including President and CEO of Genialloyd (now Allianz Direct SpA), a market leader in direct insurance in Italy. Between 2009 and 2021, he was General Manager in the SARA Group and in the Group amissima, contributing to the restructuring and improvement of the profitability of organizations.
Santoliquido has an MBA from Insead and a degree in Business Administration from Bocconi University. In 2012, he was awarded the title of “Commander of the Order of Merit” by the President of the Italian Republic.
